Conservancy News & Events
- Bark City Water: The water at Bark City has been turned off. Please keep this in mind before taking your pet for a run.
- Winter is coming, which means snow plow season is upon us. Crews have place makers. Please note individual driveways will not be marked. Individual homeowners may mark their own driveways for their plow servicer, but be sure to place the markers at least two feet from the road pavement to reduce the likelihood of having them hit by the street snow plows.
- Shuttle Services: There will now be three shuttles provided by the Conservancy this ski season. Two 11-person vans will be shuttling to Park City mountain and one 14-passenger van will be dedicated to Deer Valley. The schedule for the shuttles will be released prior to ski season.

Promontory Conservancy Winter Snow Removal
This week brought our first snow of the season, which means it is once again time to refresh on best practices and protocols for Promontory snow conditions.
The Promontory Conservancy and its snow removal contractors make it a priority to be responsive during and immediately after a storm. The Conservancy has contracted with three separate snow removal companies for various roads and neighborhoods within our community, and utilizes its own internal team as well to help keep Promontory’s roads clear. Response time to individual streets and neighborhoods will depend on several factors, including timing and duration of the storm.

In Case You Missed It
Conservancy crews have begun their fall clean-up routines in the cabin communities and parks. This includes cutting grass, trimming trees, sprinkler blowouts, and shutting irrigation water off. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Darrin Neilsen below.
Gate Opener Tags
When you come to the Concierge desk to pick up an electronic gate tag for your vehicle, please be prepared to provide your vehicle’s license plate number along with your contact information. To save yourself some time fill out the request form electronically below. After completing the request, the pass may be picked up at the Concierge’s desk. New tags are only needed when you replace a car, windshield or the old one no longer functions.
Elk at Promontory
We enjoy numerous species of wildlife within our community. With this benefit, comes possible conflicts as well. Be aware that September and October mark the peak “rut” or mating season for elk. During these months elk can become extremely aggressive toward pets and humans. Be sure to give them their space while you are out enjoying the beautiful scenery. Please see Wild Aware Utah (link below) for more information on elk and their habits.
Fire Prevention Thinning
Owners are required to thin dry grasses and remove dead and dry woods and debris to reduce wild fire risk. Conservancy landscape crews do this work on properties maintained by the Conservancy.

Lawns and Turf at Promontory
From Section 5.11 of the Design Guidelines – “At Promontory, all visible Homesite landscapes shall appear as though they are completely native. Therefore, turf is never approved in the Natural and/or Transition Areas of a Homesite. The ARC will only consider approving the use of turf within a Homesite’s Private Area if the following conditions are met: 1) The turf is comprised of grasses which are listed on the Approved Plant List under “Grasses” and 2) The turf is only planted in places which are not at all visible from any and all neighboring Homesites, Open Spaces, Common Areas, golf courses, or roadways.”
The Conservancy has already begun sending notices to homeowners to enforce this rule. To become compliant, most homeowners can simply stop mowing/manicuring the lawn and let it return to native grass status. Overseeding in wildflower seeds and other approved native plant seeds will also help restore the native landscape.
Holiday Decor & Lighting
Owners may display holiday decorations located or visible from outside their Residences if the decorations are of the kinds normally displayed in single-family residential Villages, are of reasonable size and scope, and do not disturb other Owners and residents by excessive light or sound emission or by causing an unreasonable amount of spectator traffic. Holiday decorations may be displayed in season only from November 1 to March 1 and, during other times of the year, from one week before to one week after any nationally recognized holiday.
Please avoid walking/riding bikes along major roads. We understand that this is an active community, but traffic along Promontory Ranch Rd, Ranch Club Trail, Painted Valley Pass, and Golden Bear Loop creates too much risk for everyone involved. Your safety is of the highest priority. Measures have been taken to better control traffic and access, but as of now we encourage you to walk and ride on Promontory’s 30+ miles of trails.

As a reminder, the trail system does not include the Golf Courses cart paths. Club rules state: Jogging, bicycling, fishing or recreational walking, including walking of pets is not permitted on the golf course at any time.
The trees around Promontory are a high priority. The Conservancy has contracted with an arborist to provide a comprehensive service to the trees. This includes disease control, fertigation, proper watering, improving soil PH levels, and responsibly disposing of trees that have died. We acknowledge that some trees appear poor, but we try to give them every chance to recoup and flourish. Guest Gate Access & Visitor Policy
In response to the state of pandemic and to better monitor access to the community, the Conservancy’s Board of Directors has approved a change to public access through the gates. The gates will “close” at 7:00 pm. At that time, members of the public (i.e., not visiting a specific owner, not an approved vendor, just wanting to drive through) wishing to enter the community would be turned away. When gates are “open” (6:00 am-7:00 pm), members of the public wanting to drive through will be entered into a log with name and vehicle information and issued a pass to travel through to the other gate only.
During all hours, legitimate guests will be allowed access if a pass has been created by an owner-host or if the host can be contacted by telephone when the guest is at the gate. If the host cannot be contacted, the guest would be turned away. Gate staff will continue to follow protocol for real estate visitors to ensure limited disruption of showings.
As such, it is extremely important for Promontory owners to do two things:
- Please enter a Gate Pass Request on the Member website or app for ALL guests ahead of their arrival.
- Please provide a good phone number so you can be contacted if a pass has not been entered. Guests will be turned away if you cannot be contacted.

Trash Pick up
On trash pickup day, please keep all trash inside your dumpster, with the lid closed. Please DO NOT leave cardboard boxes, furniture, or anything else that won’t fit in the dumpster on the ground – the truck drivers will not stop to collect anything outside the dumpster. If your weekly trash is more than will fit in your dumpster, please contact Republic Services (435-615-8311) for another dumpster.
Please use your own garbage and recycling containers for garbage and recyclable materials. If you have more than your containers can handle, please DO NOT dispose of trash or recyclable materials in any dumpsters or trash bins located in Promontory. This includes but is not limited to dumpsters or bins near club facilities and construction sites.

- For excess household garbage, Summit County has a landfill located east of Promontory. Information for the Three Mile Canyon Landfill can be found here.
Some years ago Summit County created a system to provide phone, email, and text messages regarding emergencies. The system was upgraded such that anyone who previously signed up will need to sign up again.
