At 7,690 yards, Pete Dye designed this course to reward accuracy and to take dramatic advantage of the rugged terrain of Promontory’s hills and canyons. Dye Canyon Golf Course Chip Wesley

Chip was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and attended high school on Cape Cod, MA. His introduction to the game came at the age of 5, with his dad and grandfather’s encouragement. Chip had a competitive junior and high school golf career in the Philadelphia and New England areas. He played collegiately at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and then attended the San Diego Golf Academy, graduating in 1995.

Upon graduating the SDGA, Chip spent nine more years at resort and private clubs in San Diego, CA, then on to positions at what is now Trump National Golf Club, Jupiter, FL, and Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA, before moving to Utah in 2004. His experience in Utah includes experience at Hidden Valley Country Club, Glenwild Golf Club & Spa, Oakridge Country Club and was most recently the Director of Instruction at Topgolf – Salt Lake City, where he was named the Player Development Leader by the Utah Section PGA in 2018.

Chip joined the Promontory Club Golf Staff as an Assistant Golf Professional at The Dye Canyon Course in June 2020, before taking on the role of Golf Operations Manager in 2021. He was named the Head Golf Professional at the Dye Canyon Course in 2022.

Outside of his job and away from the golf course, Chip is a big sports fan, especially the teams from New England. He also enjoys cooking/grilling, live sports and concerts, traveling and spending time with his two daughters, Taylor (15) and Addyson (12).

Favorite Courses he’s played: Augusta National Golf Club, Los Angeles Country Club (North), Eastward Ho! Country Club, The Country Club (MA), Pinehurst #2, Pacific Dunes.

Kemper King

Kemper King serves as the First Assistant Golf Professional at the Pete Dye Canyon Course, marking his fourth consecutive full season at Promontory. Hailing from Bridgewater, Virginia, Kemper’s sporting journey began with baseball and basketball before discovering his passion for golf in high school. Throughout his high school years, he balanced golf, baseball, and track, relishing the variety of athletic pursuits.

Upon graduating from high school, Kemper pursued his interest in golf at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in PGA Professional Golf Management in 2021. Following graduation, he embarked on his professional journey, landing at Promontory Club in Park City, Utah. Over the past four years, Kemper has thrived in his role, enjoying the dual seasons of golf in the summer and the ski lodge in the winter.

Outside of work, Kemper indulges in his passion for snowboarding during the winter months and savors rounds of golf during the summer. Always eager to embrace outdoor adventures, he eagerly joins members on the slopes in winter or the golf course in summer whenever the opportunity arises.
