Mixed Used Public Hearing

Tuesday, August 27th, 2019 at 6:00 pm
Sheldon D. Richins County Services Building (County Library)
1885 W. Ute Boulevard, Park City, UT 84098

The developer in the Silver Summit area is encouraging Promontory Owners & Members to join them at this public hearing regarding the adoption of the Mixed Use Zone into the Snyderville Basin Land Use Code. This discussion will involve the proposed new NMU (New Mixed Use) and MPD (Master Plan Development) zoning ordinances for Snyderville Basin.

The reason this is significant is the following:

  • Creates sites for the development of essential services.
  • Concentrates density into habitat friendly environment.
  • Preserves open spaces.
  • Creates housing alternatives and expedites and incentivizes the process
  • Improves circulation.
  • Reduces trip generated traffic to what is currently a single commercial area (Kimball Jct.)
  • Provides municipal and civic amenities in a centralized area.
  • Improves on the quality and type of development currently permitted in the Community Commercial Zone (CC)
  • The properties contemplated for the new zone are already identified in the 2015 Snyderville Basin General Plan
  • County Council has directed the Planning Commission to forward the previously created ordinance with amendments.

This hearing is not about any one particular development however adoption of the ordinance will open the door for the development of essential services including grocery, drugstore, restaurants, live/work habitat, Hospitality banking and general retail in the Silver Summit Area. The ordinance is conducive to the creation of vibrant civic and commercial communities providing gathering opportunities for the community. Additionally alternative retail and commercial hubs will serve to reduce trip generated traffic through out the basin especially to Kimball Junction.

The new zone will hedge against the development of certain currently permitted uses (strip shopping centers car dealerships, mini storage, flex industrial, apartments only, fast food only) by offering developers and the county the opportunity to create more habitat friendly and pedestrian interactive experiences on those sites within the newly proposed zone. Additionally smart collaborative development with the county will mitigate the potential for traffic and circulation impacts created by development in areas where the new ordinance would apply.

Anyone who would like to speak should address the need for essential services and support developments that create these positive and interesting interactive commerce opportunities especially in Silver Summit.

Education & Libations With The Park City Art Council

Wednesday, September 18th
5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
The Shed Art Silo

Join us for an evening with the PCSC Arts Council!

Come out to learn about our local umbrella arts organization, the PCSC Arts Council! They will be joining us during our Education and Libation series to tell us about their mission, current projects, and membership program. The Park City Summit County Arts Council promotes, supports, and strengthens arts and culture in Summit County. Their goal is to build and sustain a thriving creative community through advocacy initiatives, marketing, and artful programming.

Throughout the event, enjoy music and live art marking provided by the Arts Council:

Live Music with Katya & Moodlite

A refined blend of evocative melodies, silky grooves, and a deep electric pulse. Embodying dualities, Katya & Moodlite’s sound is rooted in a universal and accessible energy with branches reaching into indie, electronic, and alternative realms.

Hand Drawn Photo Booth

Come get your portrait drawn! Each attendee will have an opportunity to sit while an artist sketches. They can even sketch small groups of people together! The outcome looks like a hand-drawn photo strip. Guests can take the drawings home to remember our fun evening with the PCSC Arts Council!

Member Trip To The Masters

Promontory’s Masters trip sure was one for the ages, capped off by an historical win by Tiger Woods!

We started our trip in Atlanta, Georgia where we played 2 rounds of golf including at the world renown Atlanta Athletic Club, it sure didn’t disappoint. From Atlanta, we took off to Augusta where we were able to attend Wednesday’s practice round and Par 3 challenge. We were spoiled that day with perfect weather and lots of laughs from the players and their kids who were their caddies for the day. The next two days we enjoyed the excitement of championship golf and the stunning beauty of Augusta National Golf Club. We had the pleasure of hanging out and having dinner with tour player Kevin Kisner on Thursday night. Kisner ended up finishing in 21st place. He was a great guy and definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

We have a couple of member trips scheduled for the upcoming year!

We’re excited to announce that our head tennis professional Adam Huebner is back for another season with Promontory. Adam has designed a wide variety of tennis programs for all ages and skill levels that all begin the week of June 10. He is eager for the opportunity to work with all of our tennis playing members along with those who are interested in learning the game for the first time. He strives to share his continued expertise on how to improve your technical, tactical, and mental game while using his philosophy that he has developed over the years and through his recent specialty courses from the USPTA.

Also, all of our new members are entitled to receive a free 30 minute lesson so that Adam can show you how great this “Game of a Lifetime” can be. Beginner players will use softer tennis balls making learning a controlling the ball so much easier and will have you playing the game in a very short period of time.

Planet Promontory – Going Green

Promontory loves our planet and we are doing everything possible to be ‘green’!

Here are some examples:

  • Black, plastic drinking straws have been replaced with new green, biodegradable drinking straws.
  • Plastic cocktail stir sticks have been replaced by green, biodegradable stir sticks and/or wooden stir sticks
  • To-Go plates are now made with recycled and fully biodegradable paper, lids are compostable.
  • Paper hot cups are all made from recycled paper and biodegradable.
  • All outdoor events at Beach House and Shed summer concerts are using disposable plate ware made from fallen palm leaves, organic certified biobased product.
  • We are converting all clear drinking cups and lids to a “green” biodegradable product which is due to arrive shortly. They are a logoed product that take 60 to 90 days to be produced.

  • We recycle all glass bottles
  • We sponsor a glass recycling bin in The Triumph parking lot that is right outside the Equestrian Gate.
  • We donate annually to Recycle Utah from our Promontory Foundation
  • We WOULD LIKE to keep paying for all recycled paper/cardboard, but the market (especially from China) has collapsed for buyers of recycled material, so the last few companies we have hired  to take our recyclables have gone out of business.

Summer Days At The Pool

Help keep Promontory the best! Please keep in mind our pool rules while relaxing in the sun or splashing away!

  • All swimmers must wear bona fide swimming attire. Cut-offs, dungarees and bermuda shorts are not considered appropriate swimwear. Proper non-swim attire is required at all times in the clubhouse, other than in the locker rooms. Shoes or other foot coverings and caftans or shirts must be worn outside the swimming pool area.
  • All food (meals, shakes, candy, etc) should be kept at the tables and not on
the pool edge or near the hot tubs.
  • Running, ball playing and hazardous activities (front or back flips into the pool) are not permitted in the pool areas. Pushing, dunking and dangerous games
    are prohibited.
  • Floatation devices are permitted for non-swimming children up to 5 years
of age. Small toys such as balls, rings, etc., may be permitted depending on
the number of persons in the pool and the manner in which the toys are used. Water/squirt guns will not be permitted in or around the pool area. Blow up toys/tubes may be permitted, depending on the size of the
item and the number of persons in the pool. The pool staff has the authority
to discontinue use of these items upon the determination that they present
a safety hazard or hinder the enjoyment of the pool by others. Tire inner
tubes are not permitted at any time.

Rules For A Reason During The Season

With the busiest months at Promontory ahead of us, I am sending a gentle reminder about the need for all of our Members, their families and guests to treat our very-special amenities with care. We welcome all to ‘our house’ and expect that pride in ownership and pride in the quality of Promontory will be nurtured by all who come and use these amazing amenities. I am also asking that you remember and respect our hard-working cleaning and service staff and help them by putting towels and garbage in the proper bins. We want everyone to have magical days at Promontory by showing respectful conduct and keeping things nice for your fellow Members who come after you. In the event that
anyone in the family-of or as a guest-of the main Membership fails to meet the standards of our Club, please remember that the consequence will be on the main Member.  So, please help everyone who is here ‘on you’ know the Club rules so they may enjoy their days with us here at Promontory Club.

Thanks, and happy summer!
