Celebration Of Life For Gulliver, Our Cherished Promontory Horse

Friday, April 19th
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The Equestrian Lounge

In Memory of Gulliver
1985-2019

Gulliver was born in Argentina in approximately 1985.  Dionne Najafi bought Gulliver when he was 14 years old. She found him at the Indio California horse show, and at the time he was with people from Mexico and had been showing nine straight weeks in a row… That trainer jumped him over a 7 foot Wall  in front of a big crowd.  He was treated as a number, and not a pet. That changed when she bought him and he learned what treats were and was given lots of love. He was a great partner and they had a lot of fun together showing in California and Arizona.  When Gulliver was retired from jumping, he was gifted to Promontory in 2009, where he would live out his days being a lesson horse and barn mascot.  Gulliver had quite a following from the members, the summer campers, visitors, and residents in Promontory.  He was a fixture and could be seen most days relaxing with his girl Taffy, in the sun. Gulliver was retired from riding in 2013 and had a nice, well deserved rest.

Gulliver fell ill and was laid to rest on Sunday, March 31st, 2019.  A sad, sad day for the Equestrian center and those who knew and loved him. We will be having a celebration of life for Gulliver on Friday, April 19th in the Equestrian Lounge, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. This will be a casual gathering with refreshments for those who knew him to share stories and pictures of our good friend.  Anyone is welcome to attend.
