It’s hard to believe that after several years of visiting Park City for Jack and Katie’s spring break, we are actually living here in Promontory. We are excited to call home the place we loved to vacation as a family! It’s no surprise that this year we will be staying put even though Deer Valley and Park City Mountain close for the season when the kids begin their spring break. We can still head over and enjoy the spring skiing at the Salt Lake City resorts – Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude. April is known for having some of the best Utah powder days and fewer crowds! It’s also not uncommon to ski in the morning and golf or go for a bike ride in the afternoon.

With other spring breaks happening earlier around the country, we’ve had a wonderful time welcoming friends and their children here at Promontory. I think they’re thankful we moved here – who wouldn’t want to have friends they can visit in such an amazing ski destination?

Last week, friends from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who we turned on to the community, took advantage of Promontory’s winter season Discovery Package. This gave them two nights in a luxury cabin that included two complimentary lift tickets at Deer Valley, plus a $100 dining credit that we used toward a fabulous dinner for all of us at The Hearth Grille. The children loved spending time with Britney at The Kids’ Cabin where they got super excited about making erupting volcanoes followed by an excursion on the adventure trail. The Discovery Package also provided access to the Ranch Clubhouse where everyone could gather to enjoy the fitness center, pool, and hot tub. My girlfriends and I hit a spin class and indulged in massages at the spa.

The Alpine Lodge at Deer Valley was another amenity our guests were blown away by. As our guests, they enjoyed exclusive access with us. Each morning, we comfortably rode the Promontory shuttle to Silver Lake Village and started our day getting ready to hit the slopes from this private lodge for members. This is where we conveniently keep all our gear for a schlep-free ski season! Even though it wasn’t particularly cold, the warm-blooded Floridians especially enjoyed booting up by the fireplace. After several runs cruising the spring conditions and Deer Valley’s impeccably groomed corduroy runs, we were able to return to the lodge for some hot soup and “fresh out of the oven” rolls. We had a great time touring our friends around America’s top-rated ski resort and feasted on decadent lunches like the Skier’s Buffet at the renowned Stein Eriksen Lodge hotel. And speaking of ski lodges, Promontory is building another member lodge at Park City Mountain’s base area that will open for the 2018-19 ski season. This will be a welcome addition for our guests and us when we wish to experience the largest ski area in the U.S.!

Of course, there is so much more to Park City than Promontory, so we showed our friends around Historic Main Street. They loved exploring the various boutiques and dining at high-caliber restaurants with cuisine that rivals the finest establishments in their hometowns. The kids were fascinated by the Park City Museum and making laps up and down Main Street on the free trolley.

Promontory’s Discovery Package also came with a VIP tour of everything this predominately second home community has to offer. Needless to say, our friends and their two kids were wowed by the abundance of amenities, luxury real estate, magnificent views, and frequent wildlife sightings. My husband, Steve, and I are now placing bets on how soon they will buy a vacation home at Promontory. We will be thrilled to have them here!
