Meet the LaPiana Family!

The LaPianas are most recognized as the “crazy family” with three super loving English Bulldogs. How the dogs all joined the family is a funny story!

In 2012 Paul and Kim broke the news to their 14-year-old son, Hayden, and 12-year-old daughter, Kenna, they were moving to New Jersey from Dana Point, CA for a work opportunity. During the hysteria of the breaking news the kids asked for a real English Bulldog, thus, Bulldog number one, Carter, joined the family. Six months after landing in Basking Ridge, NJ they had to break the news they were moving again – this time to Charlotte, NC. With the move, came Bulldog number two, Lola. They say third time’s a charm, right?  Well, bulldog number three, Phoebe, joined the family when the kids convinced their mom she would need another dog when they left for college. The family is now complete and the dogs had the BEST summer exploring the Promontory trails, sunbathing at the Bocci Ball court, hiking near the Provo River, and meeting new Promontory neighbors.

Paul is a Southern California native, growing up in Laguna Hills.  Kim was born in Wisconsin and did her undergrad at Illinois State before moving to the Gold Coast in Australia at 22 to beat the cold. Paul and Kim met while working together at the Hard Rock Cafe in La Jolla, CA. Paul was a busboy and Kim a waitress. They were both attending San Diego State – Kim was getting her Masters and Paul a finance degree. They’ve been married for 22 years and are currently living in Dallas to be closer to their kids who are attending Southern Methodist University. Hayden, now 20 is a sophomore in the Cox School of Business and 18-year-old, Kenna is a freshman and interested in studying interior design and fashion. They are both loving college life at SMU!

Paul has been in the financial services industry for 26 years. He currently works for MassMutual and is responsible for MassMutual Financial Advisors. Prior to having kids, Kim worked as a Registered Dietitian in Clinical Pediatrics and then a private practice in Sports Nutrition. She had the opportunity to travel with USA Gymnastics and consult with their National Team members & coaches.

They enjoy the outdoors and are so grateful for all the options Park City offers: mountain biking, trout fishing, hiking, and of course snowboarding and skiing. Paul is obsessed with riding his dirt bike, Kim can be found often on the tennis court, and boy oh boy do they LOVE football. In the family, they have two Panthers fans, a Chargers fan, and a die hard Rams fan. The LaPianas would love to meet and share these games with other Promontory members so feel free to reach out!

Christmas in the mountains has always been the family tradition and they’ve spent many years at Mammoth Mountain but traveling there from the East Coast wasn’t easy. Paul had a colleague who lived in Jeremy Ranch, Park City and invited them out. A few things convinced them this is where they wanted to be: the ease of traveling, endless mountain resorts, and the great food. Promontory has now become the place they like to spend time year-round and where they will eventually retire.

Welcome to Promontory, LaPianas! So happy to have another great family join our community.
