Deck The Halls for the Holidays – Promontory Style

The holiday rush is upon us. Family and friends may be arriving at your home for the holiday season, or you may be spending the holidays with loved ones.  In either case, you likely want to add a touch of holiday spirit.

If you do not want to spend days and days decorating your home, you may opt for something rather simple to make the home festive, so that you can spend more time enjoying the holidays and your Promontory lifestyle.

You don’t have to be an interior designer to create an inviting environment for the holidays. We’ve compiled some easy and simple decorations to use this holiday season and add a touch of flair.

#1 – Simple Centerpiece

Looking to jazz up your coffee table or dining table? Place some antiqued ball ornaments on a cake stand platter and arrange some greenery or nest of leaves around the base of the platter.  Consider mixing and matching some ornaments you’ve collected over the years to add a personal touch to your holiday experiences.

#2 – Greenery Makes the Season

‘Tis the season to invite some magical evergreens into your home. If you can find some fresh, live greenery, then nature’s scent will fill the air.  If you can’t find winter greenery, artificial will serve as a fine substitute for the overall atmosphere. Adorn your mantel, coffee table, dining table, counters or doorways with your creativity.

#3 – Pinecones? Yes!

As with the greenery, pinecones can add a natural look and feel to the holiday season. Search your local garden center or natural paths for pinecones. Adorn your doorways with these natural pieces and top it all off with a nice big bow or holly berries.  Simple. Natural. Beautiful.

#4 – Re-Purpose a Small Artificial Tree

Do you have a small, artificial tree lying around? Were you thinking about tossing it out this year? Hold off on that thought and consider trimming the tree with candy canes, red bows and peppermints on the branches. The red and white is festive and merry for almost any location in your home.

#5 – More Ornaments Than You Need?

Do you have extra ornaments you’re not using? Consider grouping the ornaments together and hanging from the ceiling or doorway with ribbon to create a whimsical chandelier. No, it’s not mistletoe, but now a festive chandelier!

#6 – Spruce Up an Old Wreath

Don’t toss out that old wreath. You can easily spruce it up and hang it on your door — just like new. Buy a can of white or silver spray paint. Give the old wreath a nice coat and glimmer of paint. Next, adorn the wreath with some vibrant colors, try red, blue or yellow, and hang on your door. Everyone will think you bought a new wreath!

#7 – Adorn the Dinner Table

Purchase some clear glass orbs at a craft store and fill with glittery garland, pine needles, peppermints or other special trinkets. Lay an orb on each guest’s plate setting at the dinner table.   It is sure to get everyone in the holiday mood as they sit to partake your scrumptious dinner.

Holiday decorations don’t have to be complicated. You can do so much in no time to bring a festive look to the home.  Select the ideas you like most, involve friends and/or family members, and make decorating a fun and pleasant activity.

Happy holidays to all!
