Beat The Heat
The sound of hoofs pounding, the sight of dust clouds forming, and the smell of leather and hay set the stage for intensity from anxious riders preparing for memorable jumps and exciting rides.
It is that time of year again when riders and horses from around the valley gather together to escape the heat and compete in Utah’s 4th Annual “Beat the Heat” Jumper Show. Hosted at the world-class Promontory Equestrian Center and endorsed by the Utah Hunter Jumper Association, the Show will take place on Saturday, August 22nd starting at 9:00 a.m.
Spectators will view over 40 contestants ranging from 8 – 60 years old, with categories ranging from two-foot to four foot jumps competing for speed and minimal faults. Winners receive cash prizes, including $1,500 in prize money, as well as ribbons for their hard work and courageous efforts. This year, Promontory members are hoping to claim one, or many of the prizes. Previously, Members Maggie Hrdina and Avery Lutter won ribbons and proudly placed first in their classes. It will be no surprise if they repeat a winning performance!
This full day event will capture the beauty of the mountain mountains of Deer Valley and Park City ski resorts that now comprise the largest ski resort in the nation! Promontory’s Equestrian Manager Janna Hambor notes, “We look forward to another great year of tough competition, beautiful scenery and seeing familiar faces.”
Although riders and horse lovers come from far and wide to see the competition, Promontory encourages all its Members to come and support the spectacular event, which is complimentary to spectators. The world-class Equestrian Center is one of many of the prized Promontory amenities. Whether you are a seasoned rider or have never ridden before, Promontory offers equestrian trial packages, camps and memberships for Promontory owners.
