In 2010, Utah State University's College of Natural Resources was invited to partner with the Promontory Conservancy to conduct wildlife and vegetation inventories of Promontory. USU conducted these inventories of Promontory as part of an overall natural resource assessment. Using biological information collected during these inventories, project staff created a Geographic Information System (GIS) habitat database, assessed annual breeding bird survey routes, and derived species lists for mammals, birds, and vegetation types located within Promontory. In all, 68 avian, 25 mammalian, and 64 different plant species in the 10 major habitat and cover types were identified and it was acknowledged that these numbers are definitely an underrepresentation due to the limited time of the survey.

We were very excited to learn that the Promontory natural environment exhibits a high degree of plant and animal bio-diversity. It is a reflection of Promontory's stewardship efforts and demonstrates that phased, well-managed developments can provide important information to sustain regional flora and fauna in a multiple-use concept.

We hope you'll enjoy this beautiful overview of the plants and animals at Promontory. If you have any questions about the Promontory Conservancy or its stewardship efforts, please contact Meagan Ferrin at mferrin@promontoryclub.com or Stephen Lees at slees@promontoryclub.com.
