Promontory Kids Making a Difference in the Community!

Making a difference by offering community service has always been one of our desires for the kids at Promontory.  It first began about 7 years ago when camps were established. Kids wanted to do something for other less fortunate children in the area.

During the holiday season, the kids bought Christmas gifts that would be donated to children their own age.  The kids brought in wrapping paper, ribbons and bows and we wrapped the gifts.  As we wrapped, we thought of each child that would open the gift.  With excitement and anticipation, the gifts were delivered, knowing there would be big smiles on Christmas morning! Within a couple of days the kids and their parents were asking what the next project would be!

Supporting children with cancer at Utah’s Primary Children’s Hospital was easy. Kids worked all summer making friendship baskets filled with notes, bracelets and pictures. The project really hit the heart of our community when one of our own kids began her fight with cancer.  Supporting California’s Orange County Children’s Hospital, CHOC, became the focus as we all experienced empathy and compassion for one of our young members.  Sending gifts and donations helped connect and help fight the fight together as a community of kids.

Last season raising money to buy animals for a village in Africa was a lot of fun. With the funds the kids cabin was able to buy 12 farm animals.  The nonprofit, “World Vision” was filled with gratitude for our efforts.

Other great community service and fund raising activities   have been;helping  local public radio, KPCW, The  boys and girls programs and offering special combined activities with  youth in the area.

Supporting the local community and the world wide community helps children and youth connect themselves to making positive change.  Another reason why children and their families love making Promontory  in Park City Utah,  their home away from home.
