It’s no secret that we are in the middle of another cold Utah winter. This being the case, I get many questions from golfers about how to stay in optimum golf shape during the winter months.
My advice to them is to stay active. It is easy to do nothing during the winter months if you’re not a skier, but there are many other avenues to explore when it comes to golf fitness.
Working out in the gym with light weights is very beneficial to staying in golf shape during the offseason. Light weights and more reps is essential to keeping the body limber and strong. Yoga has become very popular among amateurs and profesionals alike. PGA Tour stars like Camillo Villegas and Adam Scott maintain their golf fitnes through gym excercises, cardio workouts and yoga sessions.
Skiing also provides for a great, fun way to stay in shape. Whether you ski or snowboard, you are working your leg and core muscles. These are very important areas to an effective golf swing.
For those not looking to work out, we have a golf simulator at the range house so you can keep your swing finely tuned when the weather does not permit golfing.
Look forward to seeing all of you soon.
