Claude Monet with his layers of paint created masterpieces from what he saw and felt giving a name to Impressionism. While Michelangelo Buonarroti’, painter and sculptor was the greatest Renaissance artist of all time, both are examples of timeless artists. These along with other amazing artists styles are explored at Promontory’s Kids Cabin, located on 7,000 acres of outdoor natural art in Park City, Utah, the perfect environment just became even more amazing through the eyes of a budding young artist!
Children learn the masters of art by stepping back in time. Projects such as Michelangelo day- His painting of the Sistine Chapel is recreated by having the children lay on the floor under a large table, with large pieces of butcher paper covering the area above their heads; children gain an understanding just how amazing the ceiling becomes.
Understanding Monet is best in teaching children about short brush strokes and dabbles of colors; together creating an impressionistic masterpiece.
Artful thinking happens daily when children are given the freedom to investigate and explore. What better way to spend an afternoon, than in the cozy artist’s room of the kids cabin surrounded by color and texture!
