Claude Monet with his layers of paint created masterpieces from what he saw and felt giving a name to Impressionism. Likewise Michelangelo Buonarroti was the greatest Renaissance artist of all time.
We decided to explore these amazing artists styles at Promontory’s Kids Cabin. Located on 7,000 acres of outdoor natural art in Park City, Utah, it’s the perfect environment to visualize through the eyes of budding artists!
When Children use their own individual style combined with techniques from the masters, they learn valueable skills.
In our unique open space art room, we set up painting tables and plenty of supplies for our artists to explore using paint as their medium. They learned the masters of art by stepping back in time, with projects such as Michelangelo Day. His painting of the Sistine Chapel was recreated by having the children lay on the floor under a large table, with large pieces of butcher paper covering the area above their heads. Children gained an understanding just how amazing the ceiling becomes!
Monet is best when it comes to teaching children about short brush strokes and dabbles of colors; together creating an impressionistic masterpiece.
Artful thinking happens daily when children are given the freedom to investigate and explore. What better way to spend an afternoon, than in the cozy artist’s room of the Kid’s Cabin surrounded by color and texture!
