Utah State University, known for his innovative teaching and agricultural emphasis partnered with Promontory this spring and summer in hopes to better understand the wildlife migration patterns and identify the natural vegetation found here at Promontory.
USU interns Eric Miller and Jessop Boden have spent the last few months surveying, observing and documenting the wild life activity that can be seen at Promontory. With 7000 acres to cover the interns have seen a lot of ground and have been able to identify a variety of vegetation, along with a variety of wild life from the smallest of rodents to the largest of Elk.
The interns took a break this week and did an educational lessons with the kids cabin adventure camp kids. The kids found out how a sneaky little chipmunk can take you by surprise, that the herd of Elk travel the land together and the Great Horned Owl has claimed Promontory as her permanent residence.
Kids were excited to know what to look and listen for while hiking on property-with so many variety of birds even the interns had to take on some extra keen listening skills to identify the variety of songs the birds make and which bird sings that song!
