The Promontory Sport Shop is proud to host Fine Jewelry Designer Danielle Meshorer for two trunk shows July 22nd.
The first will be held during the Ladies Member Guest Golf Day and Fashion Show Lunch –approximately 1:00pm. Later in the day you can view her talent and inspired creations during the Member Mixer from 6-8 at the Hearth.
Here Danielle discusses her collections and inspirations:
From shells washed up on the sand, to vines growing wild in enchanted gardens, Danielle finds inspiration in the inherent beauty of nature.
For her debut collection under her own name, she turns seaweed into gold and re-vamps broken bits of coral into textures for her organically elegant sterling silver pieces. “I’m very much inspired by my travels which have taken me to exotic islands: seas and shorelines, as well as forest and mountains in various cultures.” explains Meshorer.
Crafting her pieces predominantly in sterling silver and a touch of 18k gold, she uses complementary high quality stones and her pieces are all hand textured and finished.
The collection is divided into two main themes, which each contain small capsule groups.
MARINE LIFE draws up the texture and shape of various shells that are transformed with colored stones into wearable miniature sculptures. “The variety of patterns and forms makes working with this motif a designer’s dream. I have collected shells from all over the globe and have molded my favorites as influences for my premiere collection,” says Meshorer. Rings, earrings and pendants have pear or oval shaped stones either in tonal colors that work seamlessly with the metal or are popped by oceanic shades of green and blue.
Kelp and coral also provides the surface interest in this line. While on a camping trip in Big Sur, Meshorer was drawn to the massive amounts of seaweed that washed up on the beach near the campsite. “I draped layers over my wrists and fingers and around my neck and when I returned I knew this had to be included in the collection and so I’ve created hoop earrings, wide and thin cuffs and stack rings with touches of natural colored diamonds.”
The coral was found on the beach of an island in Thailand where Meshorer says, “I went on a scavenger hunt to find the broken pieces I could find legally on the shore. Each piece is unique in its texture and the allure of its imperfections, creating a challenging and enticing motif to work with. Once I was able to mold the coral and refine the waxes, I was able to create a more wearable fine look, using the tactile element and features of this intriguing motif.”
Sea Urchins also provide Meshorer with design details for the collection. The repetitive pattern, emanating from a center, lends itself beautifully to being adorned with a stone.
EARTHLY DELIGHTS takes the collection from mystical waters to exotic lands. Both the Vine and Flower collection are rooted by Asian motifs. Vines exudes a vibrant femininity in a profusion of the colors and shapes reminiscent of textiles and the ancient jewelry of China and India in hues of deeps oranges, pinks, gold and greens. Rings and cuffs twist and turn in different directions with leaves and bouquets of gems. In this group there are also cluster studs for a simple everyday look that can be converted with pendant drops into dangling earrings for an ultra versatile feeling.
The Flower collection is more of an ode to the Japanese art: simple calligraphy, the use of negative space provide the backdrop for Meshorer’s group of deep hand carved textures and relief patterns in oxidized sterling silver, enlivened by a dash of color in the gemstones. Ultra wide cuffs and varying size flowers for pendants and earrings are key.
