Kick up your heels!!

Hurray! The snow has arrived in our Mountain Town community and more is on the way.

How lovely the snow looks undisturbed. But eventually we  have to walk through it, and this made me start thinking about footwear!!

Winter 2009 footwear trends offer many interesting choices.  And the ones I find most useful for Park City are boots!  I love boots. Tall boots, short boots all kinds of boots!

Several styles of boots made my Top 10 Shoe Trend list. There is an important difference, though, between function and fashion, which is always a tough balance in a snowy ski town. Function often trumps, but once the sidewalks are cleared, ladies, feel free to sport some of these fashionable choices!

Top 10 Winter Footwear Trends for 2009-10

1. Over the knee boots – really great over leggings or tights with a dress or tunic

2.Ankle boots – little booties that can be worn with a skinny jean, leggings or tights for a sleek look, or bare legs in warmer climates

3.Western boots – the cowboy boot takes a turn as fashion – check out these styles in the Promontory Sport Shop

4.Tan Boots – tall tan boots look chic with denim or dresses

5.Studded booties – a tougher look for the ankle boot trend

6.Peep toe heels – in gold for glam and nude to accentuate a long leg look

7. Flats – leopard print make them stylish for winter

8.Mary Janes – black – classic – forever

9.Red pumps – adds a flash of color to simple outfits

10.Patent Oxfords – works the menswear feel

Biker boots and artistic heels are not as popular as in previous seasons. The trends seem to be indicative of our economic environment, in that simplicity and longevity is more practical and easy to wear.

All of the footwear on my list comes in a variety of heel heights to personalize your choices. So get out there and kick up your heels in the latest footwear fashions!

Happy Holidays!  Dawn Marzka
